The aim of this project was to take a simple volume of an existing building and to provide a landscape and facade design that root the building within a local vernacular language of the site, in particular its foliage and local stone. The facade was clad in stone tiles to represent a large solid block from which the volume of the building appears to have been carved form. Furthermore, outdoor terraces were enclosed in living walls, differentiating the internal uses of private (sleeping) and active (living) areas.
